I have a document, Engagement of Attorney Services and Fee Agreement, signed and dated by myself and my attorney. It states the amount of money due before any trial and also states the flat fee amount due if my case should go to trial. At my last and only person to person meeting with my attorney, he says "by the way, I made a mistake, my fee for trial is $xxxxx." He essentially raised his fee 150% and says because he didn't know it could be a jury trial and he might be in court all day etc. He has been practicing law in my state for over 5+ yrs. My question is, Can he legally change his fee agreement with me more than 2 months after our original, signed/dated agreement? and Verbally at that? Thanks!
