How do i go about getting a patent for a electronic device?

How should I go about getting a patent? I know there will be contracts involved, so I want to be careful. I already have the concept sketch, functionality, and a full explanation of the pros and cons that I can come up with for my product. I have yet to go out and look for a buyer into it, but I want to make sure my information and legal matters are all handled first.

Legally, you can do it yourself but since you asked the question, you need help.  In that case, only a patent attorney or agent registered with the U S Patent and Trademark Office can apply for the patent for you.  I have a number of articles on my website uspatentlawcenter.com which may help you.
(We are revising the site.)  Read as many of the articles as you can including the one on obtaining financing.

Be careful about looking for buyers before you have filed for the patent.  If you do not do all correctly, you could lose your right to patent.
