Starting a website, how/ do i register it?

Hey. Just a few general questions. Recent uni grad and thinking of starting a website which profiles engineering programs from all over north america. This way, they are all in one convenient place for students to compare, and read about. Students can also share their experiences if they graduated from the program. I would be briefly mentioning each program and linking to the schools site. 1) Would I need to get specific permission from the schools I will be mentioning? I figure it is good publicity for them, I will not be making comments either good or bad about the programs. 2) Also, if the site gains traction, would I be able to monetize the site? If so, should I wait to register the business for when I actually start to monetize? (Could be a year from will be a hobby till then). Thanks guys!
