No Detention? School Settles Lawsuit For Spying on Students

Mon Oct 18, 2010 A Philadelphia school that issued laptops to their students, and then spied on them, has worked out settlements in two lawsuits. The school has agreed to pay $619,000 total to end the suits. The school has said that it turned on the webcams remotely in a misguided effort to locate missing computers. One of the plaintiffs, however, said that he was photographed over 400 times over 2 weeks, and some of the pictures were taken when he was at home and in his bed.
