|
Wed Oct 13, 2010 The first civil trial of a Guantanamo Bay detainee started this week in New York City. The case is being tried in United States District Court. The Defendant is accused of being part of a 1998 bombing attack on a US Embassy. There was already controversy during the first day, as the defense called for a mistrial based on the prosecutions comments during opening statements that referred to Al Qaida. The judge denied the request. If he is convicted, he faces up to a life sentence in prison. Ahmed Ghailani Trial Opens In New York Court | The Huffington Post |
