Eyes on the Road? State Highway Officials Consider Phone Restrictions

Tue Sep 28, 2010 Highway officials from all 50 states gathered over the past weekend to consider a hot topic: banning all use of cell phones while driving. While that may seem like a drastic step, consider that 30 states now ban texting while driving and 8 others ban hand-held cell phones. The ban is driven by one focus: safety. According to one study, even using a hands free device appears to make little difference on whether a driver can safely operate a car. |
