Change of Venue? Judge Declines to Move Former Congressman's Trial
|
Thu Aug 26, 2010 A Texas judge has declined former Congressman Tom Delay's request to have his trial moved. Delay, who was once House Majority Leader, requested to have his trial moved because Austin is a liberal city. Delay also alleges that a prosecutor harbors a personal vendetta against Delay. Delay is being charged with money laundering, specifically that he sent corporate money through the Republican National Committee to help Republican candidates get elected. Delay was a staunch Republican and his trial will held in a more liberal leaning district. |
