Senate panel to vote on Obama Supreme Court pick Kagan

US President Barack Obama's Supreme Court nominee is to receive a first vote on her confirmation.

The Senate judiciary committee is set to approve Elena Kagan's nomination, sending it to a full Senate vote.

But some Republicans oppose Ms Kagan, citing her past opposition to the military's policy banning gays from serving openly in the military.
