Chirac on trial in corruption case

Former French president Jacques Chirac's trial on allegations he approved of bogus jobs to help fund his political party while he was mayor of Paris opened on Monday.

Chirac, 78, is charged with embezzlement, breach of trust and conflict of interest. Also on trial are his former chief of staff, Remy Chardon.
