Up in smoke--feds reign back marijuana prosecutions

Wed Dec 9, 2009 Medicinal marijuana providers and users will not be subject to federal prosecution, according to a recently released Justice Department memo. The memo, however, notes that this does not effectively legalize marijuana usage, nor does it protect individuals attempting to grow marijuana on federal land. The decision was based on resource allocation, "to help focus the federal government's limited federal resources more efficiently."
