Last July (2009) i got a puppy, from a chicken farm, for me and my family (husband and son) and brot it home. i proceded to take her to the vet and get her first couple sets of shots. In september 2009 i left my husband and we made an agreement that when i had a proper home to take care of her then he would give her to me. He was just looking after her for the time being. when it came around to the time that i expected the letter would be coming in the mail to say it was time for her to get fixed,i called to see if the letter had come and if i needed to pay anything. My husband told me it was "taken care of" i said do you need any money to pay for it , "its been taken care of" he said again. And wouldnt tell me how or who paid.
After christmas that year i brot my husband and son back to their house where the dog was. He decided he didnt want to stay there so i phoned my sister to see if she would look after the dog until my husband knew where he was going to be staying. She said yes and took the dog to her house. Less than 24 hours later my husbands mother went to my sisters house and physically took the dog away from my sister , saying "ITS MY DOG,I PAID THE VET BILLS. IM TAKING MY DOG" .
She then later told us she gave the dog to her other son(my husbands brother) becuase he "needed" the dog.
Each time after this that i tried to argue and say she took my dog she said "i paid for the bills, its not your dog now its mine".
Personally i dont think that taking someones dog and getting it fixed without their permission makes it yours. I think it makes you a theif and a bully. I need to know my rights because i love my dog and me and my son would love to have her back in our lives.
please help!!!
