BC Hydro has installed the new smart meter on my house. It is located on the outside wall of my house directly outside my bedroom and bed.

Since installation , I've been experiencing insomnia and tinnatus (ringing in my ears) while in my bedroom everynight. It is stating to affect my sleep patterns and overall wellbeing.

I have yet to call BC Hydro to complain for fear of my complaint just falling on deaf ears but I want my old analogue meter back.

My question is, if I were to call BC Hydro and explain to them the effects the smart meter is having on my health could they be legally obligated to return my old meter? If not, is it legal for me to do the exchange myself with a meter that I purchase myself?

Obviously I would inform BC Hydro of my intended swap before hand and offer them a chance to do it themselves but with the service I've had from them in the past it is not looking good.

Any input would be apprecialted.
