Am i still bound by a rental lease, although it has expired?

When entering into a rental agreement, I had to sign a lease.  The lease was for only a one year period.  I have continued renting the same property,  and would like to know, even though the lease has expired, am I still bound by that lease?  I rent on a month to month basis.
