I'm facing assault charges against my wife. The police pressed the charges, not her. She doesn't understand that she has an input into things at all as far as sentencing or even lessening of charges go. How can I have her informed of what her options are?

Talk to your lawyer.
I'm assuming that you are under conditions not to communicate with your wife. If this is the case you obviously cannot speak to her or even attempt to pass on messages. However, your lawyer is allowed to speak to her just like any other witness. Your lawyer would be free to ask questions about what she wants to see happen or what she says about the offense.
If you do not have a lawyer, this may be a good reason to hire one.
