Either make arrangements to get to court or have an agent (ideally a lawyer) appear for you. Failing to show up for court, even if you are working, will result in a warrant being issued for your arrest.
You can contact a lawyer and make arrangements for him/her to appear on your behalf. If this is not possible you can attempt to get a non-lawyer to appear for you, but this is not the best way to proceed. A perosn other than a lawyer does not have the right to appear for you and the judge or justice of the peace may not allow them to appear as you agent. This could result in a warrant being issued for your arrest.
Another option would be to try to contact duty counsel in the jurisdiciton where you are expected to appear for the day of your appearance. It may be difficult to arrange this in advance and duty counsel is often extremely busy on court days. As a result you may not be able to organize the appearance.
The best option is to arrange the appearance with a lawyer well in advance.
All of this assumes that your appearance is not a trial, a sentencing, or a situation where you have been ordered to appear in perosn. If any of these are the case you only have one option; show up for Court.
