I am trying to figure out if I am married. In 2008 I had a wedding ceremony.. Shortly thereafter I found our papers that were to be sent in to make our marriage legal (I was told they were taken in). I am trying to find out whether or not I am actually married, and, if so, what I have to do not be married. I am getting married in December and do not want to come across any problems.

I think you really need to meet with a lawyer as soon as possible to have the lawyer review the "papers" and all of your circumstances to assist you in confirming your status. The sooner you find this out the better since if you are in fact legally married you will ned to obtain a divorce before your December wedding can take place.
