Hello,
I am a graphic artist. I was in a contract situation with a company. I used my own tools set my own hours. I was not on the payroll and invoiced my hours of work. No tax was taken from the money paid me.
I was involved with doing some books for the company. I was not the author of the books, I did the artwork and design for the series of books and came up with the concept for the front covers and inside pages.
My question is. Do I have intellectual rights to this material or hold a copyright over the design of the series.

From your brief description, you appear to have rights over your the artwork you created but you do not indicate what contract you have and if you have been paid. I presume that you were paid and that there were certain rights negotiated for the use of this artwork. Therefore, I do not understand what other right you wish to assert, i.e. additional payments, moral rights, etc.
Thanks

The contract was more or less open. I did work. I billed the company and they paid me. I have been paid for the work I did, but there was no rights negotiated for the use of the artwork, I was just paid for the design and layout of the books. I would like to know if I can get additional payments to release my rights to the artwork.
Thank You
