What constitutes a virtual threat, and can someone be charged for it?

Hi there, I am a New Brunswick resident and I am wondering if a text message containing the phrase "never show your face in _______ again" constitutes a threat, and if someone can press charges on an individual who sends a message of this kind. Thank you for your time.
