I live in Nova Scotia. My partner put me legally on the deed to the house but he is the only name on the mortgage. We broke up. I've been told by my lawyer that we have to split the house 50-50. I've put money into the house for renovations (that are not completed). My concern is that he is in breach of his contract with the mortgage company by putting me on the deed without letting them know. Will I get any compensation if the mortgage company calls in the mortgage? Can they make me go on the mortgage?
