How are youth charged?

When a young offender is charged with a criminal offence, for example murder or aggravated assault, how is the offender charged? Would the YO be charged under the YCJA or Criminal Code?

The youth would be charged with offences which are listed under the Criminal Code of Canada.  For the most part, the Youth Criminal Justice Act creates procedure applicable to youth criminal proceedings, not offences.
