Legal question concerning minor

hello i live in British Columbia canada. i was on a dating site and I got a phone number from a person who I thought was a consensual adult. I'm 43 and she said she was 38. We exchanged some sex texts (explicit sex texts, I exchanged one explicit photo of me, other did not). later in the conversation I discovered discovered that this was a kid (said 10 or 11). i abruptly ended the text conversation. Am i in a legal issue? I suffer from depression and i feel really embarrassed, stupid and worried. I thought this person was an adult (might even be someone just wanting to prank people, I've contacted the dating site stating issue withuser). My gut says probably not, but I want to be sure.

well it is a good decision that you contacted the dating site and ecpressed your concerns.the truth is that dating sites has a policy that subscribers must be 18 years of age or older.
for the fact that she lied about her age is very disturbing.
next time be careful and make sure that you are chating with an adult before exchanging erotic photos and messages.
The police will not charge you unless someone file a complaint.
So for now, no worries.

I am assuming this is an adult site/telephone line where the user needs to confirm or acknowledge that they are 18 or over. Even if they don't this is assumed for all dating services in Canada.

I wouldn't worry about this at all. If you met her on that telephone line and were lead to believe she was 38, you have done nothing wrong and nothing will come out of it.

Don't worry too much you haven't even done anything wrong or illegal by being on the phone line and speaking to her.
