I first of all want to thank you for your time. i don't want to go to trial on this. i hope you can help guide me in the right direction.

I live in Prince Edward Island and was the victim domestic violence. It was a one time occurrence. There is a good chance it will go to trial I don't want to have to testify. I do not want my life put on trial. I am not in fear of my life or feel in danger at all. My ex has not tried to contact me and I have moved on. I will be talking with victims services about a victim impact statement But I understand that is only read if he is found guilty. Will I be forced to testify ?

At a trial of domestic violence, the best person to provide evidence against the accused will be the victim. Often times, a trial can be thrown out or dismissed if there is not enough evidence to be given against the accused. So unless there are other victims (and ones that are willing to testify), then you will probably need to testify against your ex-partner.
