Media, sensitive information

If I wanted to email a media outlet with sensitive information about a federal law, and that media outlet made that information available online via their website to the general public, can I, as the original sender, be arrested or prosecuted for providing said information, or, do the media have legal rights to protect their sources? It is not libel or slander, as the information would be factual, with no possibility of being false.
