What happens when a will is not honoured?

My father passed away in 2008. I have 2 sisters. His wife has 1 daughter. Everything went to the wife, but was to be divided in half at the time of her death. Half to her daughter & the other half to be divided between the 3 of us. We lost touch shortly after my father passed. she didn't return any calls or even acknowledge us. I recently found out on facebook that she passed away last December. I tried messaging her daughter to find out what happened but have not received any info back. My questions are: Should we have been contacted Could the will have been changed Could she have not acknowledged dads will

Whether you have any claim will depend upon the way in which your father's Will was written.  You should have it reviewed by a lawyer who can advise you based on what that Will says.
